Have you ever felt like bookmarking your sites into your favorites in the web browser could be so much easier and more useful? Imagine being able to bookmark your favorite sites and then tagging them with key words to help you find them by subject or specific topic. Delicious lets you do this AND allows for searching of other people's favorite websites as well. So you get to look through sites they think are the absolute greatest for science, labs, and so much more. You can also share your sites with friends and colleagues by email or tagging their screename when you add your tags.

Jing is a FREE program that allows you to screen capture images and video that can either be saved directly to your computer or you can have a link generated to share on websites, through email or on your Wikispace. The program acts like a camera or video recorder that "captures or catches" what you see on your monitor screen. The program will let you capture the whole screen or even the tiniest part of one. There is also a way to get an embed code for images and/or video.

What can you use Jing for in your classroom?
1. Use to show "how-to" videos on computer software or programs you might not have time to show each individual student.
2. Record lectures for students to access outside of school.
3. Use to record video for access from your computer in case you don't have access to the internet in the classroom.
4. Use the picture capture to get images and sections of the screen to add to lessons and PowerPoints.
5. If you have an interactive white board, you can record your lecture or lesson to serve as a tutorial for those who missed class or need a review of the material later on.

Do you get tired of fighting with students to make them keep their cell phones put away? There are lots of teachers who are adjusting their fight and letting students use cell phones in the classroom.

ETLL_Poll_Everywhere_Logo.png
Poll Everywhere is one of the easiest ways to begin incorporating cells phones into your classroom. This is a free service that allows you to ask a question and have students text in their answer to a special number. The responses are available in real time or you can check them later. The limitations of the free version are that you can only poll 30 people at a time, but you can poll those 30 people as often as you'd like. If you're not quite ready to try this in your classroom, you could have students send in their answers or responses after school hours.
